Esquimalt Gorge Park March 3, 2018

On March 3 as part of Esquimalt’s Branch Out Program, the Greater Victoria Green Team volunteers tackled 2 large areas of Himalayan Blackberry and also English Ivy from Esquimalt Gorge Park. We planted 25 native trees as well!

Highlights

  • In total 20 GVGT volunteers participated and contributed 33 volunteers hours
  • 9 volunteers were introduced to Esquimalt Gorge Park
  • 14 volunteers were introduced to removing English Ivy and 13 volunteers were introduced to planting Douglas-fir trees
  • We removed 5 cubic metres of English Ivy and Himalayan Blackberry
  • We removed the invasive plants from an area measuring approximately 200 square metres
